help! no sound playback after first use

wavepad worked great the first time i used it to do some editing of a .wav file. however, now i can't get audio playback from wavepad or any other app (windows media player, musicmatch jukebox, realplayer, etc.). waveforms are still visible in wavepad and it still scrolls through the file when i hit "play," but no sound is produced.

 

playback volume settings are all turned up, speakers on, etc.

 

any suggestions?
