Guest Guest
I am connected to ADSL will I be able to use the above modem/router to receive calls direct to my PC? Cheers <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No you can not use the above modem/router to receive calls. This is a router and not an analog modem. ASDL modems are only used for communicating on high or un-auditable frequencies between your house/business and the closest substation. This is how they obtain high speed. A standard modem, can communicate on lower frequencies allowing them to be used for answering phone lines. You need to get a standard analog modem to be able to receive calls on your telephone line. You do not need to remove your ADSL modem in order to receive a call using a standard modem. Since they are using two different frequencies they can both be plugged and your standard modem will answer calls (assuming ASDL filters are installed correctly). Hope this answers your question. P.S. They say Modem but it’s like a Cable Modem. Not a standard old-fashioned 56K Modem
