Why won't Debut play flv

I'm evaluating the free version of Debut. If it passes the test, I'll buy the full version for use in my conducting class. It is extremely helpful if the students can see videos of themselves as they learn to conduct. However, our network storage is not infinite and recording these in-class videos as flv files would help a great deal.

 

Everything records OK. However, when I go to play the file back from within Debut, I just have a black screen and no video. Also, my independent flv player tells me that the Debut-produced file is not valid. What am I doing wrong?

 

I also have no sound in any format, but I'll hunt down that problem later today.

 

Just getting the flv working would be a huge help.
