Background Noises from Micro and AC

We have a video documentary of our Mission Trip we did with our small church. We recorded it with our home video cameras and we purchased an affordable external microphone. Some of the interviews have a lot of background sound caused by the micro phone picking up too much detail. How can I remove Humming, AC noises, High pitch noises caused by electrical fixtures?

We applied the High-Pass Filter with the presetting General Audio Cleanup.

We also applied Auto Spectral Noise Reduction with the presetting Apply to voice.

I think it has helped a lot. We would like to know if I did the right thing to apply these two filters, and if there something else we can do or select a different setting that could help.

The background noise is not that bad at all when we view the documentary on a computer, but is very noticeable when we view it on a TV, and even worth if the TV has an added sound system. It is pretty annoying in between spoken sentences when there is a short silence. You can see a trailer at

Any help will be very welcomed, I can send a short sound clip, I can answer questions, I thank you in advance for your assistance.

You might just want to to cut out the offending part and add a section of silence!

I use another audio pgm to do other things like filtering. I didn't have much luck with wavepad doing what I needed doing as far as filtering went.

There's a specialty audio scrubber called audio soap, but my copy got lost in a sewage back up before I could even install the copy so I can't tell you how effective it is.

That's the best I can do for you...hope it helps.
