OneMoreUserName
Using Express Talk with my viatalk account I have the following configuration: 1) Express Talk running on win xp. 2) PC connected to a Netgear wpn824 router (which is connected to my comcast cable modem) When I dial out I hear a ring tone, it shows connection, but i can not hear the party I called. When I remove the netgear from the network (connecting pc to the cable modem) all is well. I've found many articles on NAT and port forwarding. I've attempted to forward many different ranges of UDP ports. Currently I have attempted to foward a wide range hoping to hit on the port that was the culprit: UDP 8000-16000 and UDP 5060-5071, but this is not working. I've also read that symetric NAT is "always" unreliable and when I attempt to use the Express Talk Network Wizard it is telling me it is detecting a symatric NAT rounter - will Express Talk simply not work with a symetric nat router? thank you in advance Frank
pythonpoole
The symetric nat router is fine, you just have to make sure it is correctly setup for port forwarding. By the sounds of it, despite your best efforts, it looks like the ports are still being blocked. Perhaps contact the manufacturer of the router or visit the free guides on portforward.com for help with port forwarding on your particular router model.
