Anyone use an USB-to-COM converter?

Hi there.

I was able to run the IVM Answering Attendant 4.11 on a PC with WinXP SP3 and D-Link 562E modem (Conexant chipset).

Then, I decided to try it on Dell Latitude notebook that has no built-in COM ports.

So, I've attached Maxxtro USB to COM converter cable, and plugged same modem to it. The modem has been detected, drivers installed. Modem works fine in Windows, but Answering Attendant doesn't detect incoming calls.

So, does anybody use such USB-to-COM converters successfully? Any suggestions?
