Never mind, I figured out what happened. I have files directed to save on an external drive and it was unplugged.

Thanks for your help. I cannot open any types of files (MP3, WAV, etc.) in WavePad to edit. Just yesterday I updated to version 13.38 thinking that was the problem but after updating and even restarting my laptop, I can't get any files to open.
