Yes, we have this problem often. The program says "Recording" in the lower left corner, but the visual wave display stops. Hitting record again seems to restart the recording, but we frequently are missing a few seconds of our recordings. Multiple people here have had this issue multiple times since we upgraded our version of WavePad to install on a new PC. This never happened on our old version. We have been using the software for years!
