I can't say, I have VLC and am using it for playback but that may be the culprit.

I am curious, how did I create files with names like "vlc-record-2014-01-24-12h13m04s-d4.wmv-.asf", and what are they used for? That was only at my first session with vpe ever, not since then.

I think I have sorted out most of my problems, but when stiching clips I have a problem with black 'frames' between clips. That may perhaps be because I made a clip extending beyond end of flie or something? Is there a simple method for fixing that or do I have to go back and redo my work?

I don't find an option to reverse the video clip playback direction, isn't there any?

I am comfortable staying in this thread but my qestion is about backup of the registered program. Will the registration be preserved so the status will be restored after a computer crash or breakdown?

I am n ot comfortable with the end result after creating a video from my clips. I expect the clips to be placed in the new video product in the same arder as when I made them. From one master file, I make a number of clips, and try to move a piece from the middle of the video to near the end. But the end result plays the end first, and without having analyzed it much yet, believe there are other things that are not quite like I expected. Is there any method by which I can move the clips to put them in the desired order?

I was told the testperiod was over so I'd have to buy the software. I thought it was free for noncommercial home use? Since I was unable to use it I made the payment but it was quite a surprise to me.

"the bin (top-left)" - is that the leftmost frame to the left of the 'clip preview' frame? I am making a slow progress but haven't reached a stage where I can make a few cuts from the master and join them to obtain a shortened version.

To make certain we are talking about the same subject, I quote the instructions I am trying to follow. All goes well up to where the first edited clip appears on the timeline. From there on, I am not able to do anything. I am trying to move the scrubber around and clicking the mark buttons, but get no green arrow. But I am adviced that I can't have the end before the begin point, and it seems I am unable to get out of that situation. I am not concerned with audio at this time, first I want to get the video part working for me. I thougt I might have an OS problem but Win 7 made no difference from Win XP
