  1. I would like to archive the taped video images I took with my earlier S-Video camcorders and mini-DV camcorders. In doing so, I would like to retain the highest definition. I just bought an analog to digital converter (the Grass Valley ADVC-110) that allows me to feed my S-videos to that converter and output a digitized signal that I could then feed to my PC via a firewire cable. A mini-DV player would likewise allow me to bring its digital signal to my PC via a firewire cable. I’m assuming the Debut Video Capture software would allow me to create appropriate video files on my PC hard drive. But what format (.avi, .wmv, .mpg, .mp4, .mov. etc) should be used to provide me the highest resolution that I seek. Of course, I realize the question assumes that the digital converter, mini-DV player and the Debut Video Capture software all have the flexibility to allow me to change the file format.
