I recorded a discussion from the web. The voices are distorted - recording level was too high. How do I adjust the recording level when recording from the web?

I have the output of my FM tuner connected to the line input of my pc. Wave Pad can record from this and does so. However, I need to reduce the recording level. How do I do this? Doesn't seem to be any buttons or controls to do this.

I connected the output of my FM receiver to line in to my computer (running Windows 2000 Pro fully patched). I started Wavepad and clicked on the Red record button. No sound. I checked my settings for line in and everything looks good there. Yet Wavepad produces nothing. I have to assume no signal is getting to Wavepad. What is the best way to record from my FM tuner?

I use WavePad to listen and edit ASF files. Some ASF files work well and I can edit them. Others don't. Usually when I select an ASF file, WavePad goes through a download process using DirectX. I have the latest version of DirectX installed. After WavePad loads the ASF file, it starts playing it. With some ASF files, Wavepad does not go through a download process using DirectX. So, I'm confused. Why do some ASF files work and others don't?
