I have the same problem: 'Building Preview / Please wait ... '. Only in 3.0. Unfortunately I have recently upgraded to Windows 8 so I cannot use version 2.41. It takes very long time to play the video in Clip Preview window or Sequence Preview window. It gets really frustrating if you import 4 or 5 videos and cannot preview neither of them. I searched for a setting that 'loads' somehow the videos so that after a certain amount of time they are ready for work. But didn't find it. You have to manually select every imported video and wait for the green bar to load the video. This behavior I find it unacceptable. Try to fix it.
