  1. I have skype on my Dell X50v win2003SE and it works, skype version is 2.0.0.51
  2. There is an intallation prob, here is what I posted some while ago.................................. I found that there is an error in their program, the wav files are stored in mydocs, but I found 2 directories, one named "Pocket Talk", and the other named "PocketTalk" ! The sounds were in one but not the other, so copied the sounds to the empty directory and the audio test then worked. This is an installation problem. ------------------------------------------------------ Hope this solves your problem
  3. Thanks for the info, on installation using the cab file said it was not valid cab file. The error you received I found the same, but using the latest active sync version cured that. I installed the prog but there are problems. Using Dell X50v windows 2003se On the audio testing the mike test works showing the audio on the line, on the speaker test just silent, although I know it all works. I found that there is an error in their program, the wav files are stored in mydocs, but I found 2 directories, one named "Pocket Talk", and the other named "PocketTalk" ! Also when you switch screens, it does not always draw the complete screen, you have to tap the screen and then parts will re-appear!, also when setting up the lines, the next/back buttons are almost off the bottom of the screen, and trying to go back from the status screen if there is a button at the bottom, then it does not show. I have managed to get it running, but with lots of hiss, to reduce that I had to set the mike to not auto level.
  4. Is there a way to download the cab file without having to use the windows installer ?
  5. If you try the above driver - please post your success or otherwise.
  6. I also have just purchased an Acer Laptop model 2424 with 1GB ram, (2 weeks ago) location UK, and get exactly the same problems, I also have done the memory tests and no faults have been found. My initial version was 1.4 so put on the latest version, both give the same problem as per original poster. No other programs I run which use the wireless have caused this problem, Skype, stanaphone and any programs that use the sound card. I have not tried the cable only with the wireless disabled, and will try with a usb wirless dongle tomorrow. Will advise further update - tested with wireless disabled and on cable - no problem at all - other wireless adapter to be tried tomorrow update 2 30th August UK time 08:43 I have tried with 3 other wireless cards, a cnet usb dongle and d-link usb dongle (same chipsets) no problems, also tried with an old Orininoco Silver PCMCIA card again with no problems. I will try and find a card/dongle with Atheros chipset to see if that works or not. UPDATE 30th AUG Could not find a card with Atheros chipset, so went hunting for drivers. Found Atheros generic driver which covers many cards. version 4.2.2.7 changed the driver on the laptop, and so far NO problems with Express Talk and the NMI/hardware error. Driver only can be downloaded from here http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/drivers/wlan..._driveronly.zip Discussion here http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/forum/index....amp;#entry37915
