homophone

I am a newcomer to WavePad and have downloaded the free version 3.03. I have been trying to use the Tools->Frequency Analysis. After selecting a part of the audio and activating the tool for the analysis, I get an illegal act error screen and the programme is closed. In the help file. it says to use the frequency analyser set the waveform cursor to the point in the audio you want to analyse and select Tools-> Frequency Analysis. But how do I find the waveform cursor? Can anyone help?
