  1. For question #1, I find that applying a High Pass Filter (Effects -> High Pass Filter) to the recording takes away a lot of static and noise when "Remove Noise & hiss " just does not seem to clean it up enough. Don't be scared to go up to 4000 or higher and preview the output sound. You can always amplify if you need to hear better after filter is applied. I have been able to determine the level (in Hz) by how mush static there is in the recording. Some times I go as hi as 9000 Hz but usually find that between 2000 – 4000 Hz is best for most static. Hope that helps . There is absolutely no education behind my reply, just trial and error.
  2. I've found rather large (250MB +) .aud files in the same folder as my VRS recording folder. The strange thing is that the files are only there for a day, then get overwritten by the next day's file. They are numbered from 0.aud all the way to as high as I have seen 32.aud. Along with the .aud file, there is a .grf file with the same name (0.grf, 1.grf, etc)Are these temporary files created by VRS or is there a malicious program sending secret recordings to an email or FTP site somewhere? How can I convert this .aud file to a .wav or .mp3? I've searched the internet high and low and can't seem to get an answer. Oh, yeah... NCH should really allow 3 letter searches when searching the discussion fourms. It Would make it much quicker to search for topics related to file extensions. Thanks!
