  1. Hey guys, I've been using Video Pad for a while, and I love it.

I just have one question: Every time I add subtitles to my video, and save the project as

an HD video file, the subtitles appear really small, no matter how big a font I choose.

I have tried it with several extensions (.avi, .flv, .wmv) and video playback programs,

including Windows Media Player, and they all display the subtitles as tiny!

I am pretty sure this has to do with the video's resolution, because the less the resolution

that I save it with- the bigger the subtitles! How the hell can I fix this? :(

It's probably related to a bug in Videopad. It has been fixed but we haven't released an update yet.

We're working on a major update at the moment. Beta version will appear on NCH website by the end of this week.

  2. So, I get the software to record LPs with, and it's all fine and dandy. Until I find out it can stretch widescreen.

So I think "Awesome" and set everything that's related to widescreen (including the output) to be in the 16:9 aspect ratio. It's fine in the preview window, until I hit the record button. Then it goes back to 4:3.

I've tried for hours to get it to record in widescreen, and it won't work. I have no idea what's going on, and I'd like some help. If necessary, I'm using Vista and a Roxio Easy VHS to DVD capture card at a 640x480 native aspect ratio. Any suggestions?

We have fixed this bug but haven't released an update yet.

We plan to release it at the end of the month.

  3. I just udated the version to 2.12 and tried it and still have the same problem.

The still images (gif and jpgs) are completely distorted in the movie produced for upload to youtube.

I am generating the movie in 320x240 format because the video clips I captured from youtube for this movie only work at this resolution.

The gifs and jpg stills I created in photoshop are 640x480.

The strange thing is that the first couple of stills in the movie seem to be OK but the remainder (about 10-15) are completely distorted. You can hardly read the text and the photos in the still are completely messed up. All stills were created the same way and some of the images/photos on these stills are the same. I used a template with the same images to create several of the stills yet only a couple display correctly.

Do you use any subtitles? What happens if you disable them?

You can also try to use "Computer/Data" category in the "Video Output Setup" dialog. Select "YouTube" preset. Click "Encoder Options...". Set "Average bitrate" to 1024, "Maximum bitrate" to 2048. Click OK. Find your movie in the destination folder and upload it manually if it's OK.

  4. I cannot get Debut Video Capture to record beyond 1 hour, even though "Maximum Recording Time" is unchecked.

I have uninstalled & reinstalled the software, and searched for other solutions, but haven't been able to fix this.

It DID record uninterrupted for the first 3 days I used it, but then the 1 hour limit began and has remained since. Does anyone know of a solution to this?

    Thanks.

Please check if you have any scheduled tasks ("Schedule" button on the toolbar). Try to remove all of them.

    Try to remove

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\NCH Software\Debut\Settings\MaxTimeMilliSeconds and

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\NCH Software\Debut\Settings\MaxTime

keys from registry if you have them.

If above doesn't help try to enable "Limit maximum recording time" and set it to 3:00:00

  5. I tried creating a video for youtube that is a composite of existing youtube videos and some stills (tried both gifs and jpgs). Once I created a movie of all the videos and clips I noticed that the quality of the stills seems to degrade after the first or second still is displayed.

The quality of the pre-existing videos in the movie does not change. The quality of those is the same as when captured from youtube. But the quality of the stills is terrible. The images and text on the stills appears distorted.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks

Which version of Videopad do you use? We had similar problem in 2.11 but it had been fixed in 2.12.

Please try to update to Videopad 2.12

  6. is this a bug?

during playback of video in storyboard, if i click pause, the video does NOT pause on the frame currently in the preview pane.

instead, it jumps ahead many seconds, and pauses at a different point in the video.

i also notice that the video in the preview pane is several seconds behind the timeline position.

using a netbook with 1 Gig ram.

(VideoPad is the only free video editor i've found yet, which gives me real-time playback on a machine with limited memory, so i hope this can be fixed.)

    This is a performance issue.

Please give us some details about your system and video file you try to edit in Videopad:

    - CPU (Processor) frequency and model;

    - Resolution of your video file (use MediaInfo tool if required);

Also make sure you always connect your netbook to a power source when using Videopad.

Netbook often decreases CPU performance when running on battery.

  7. What format do you try to convert your video to?

I've got the same problem with amy pc running Vista.

I've tried saving to the desktop and to the public folder both without asuccess.

I've also turned off User access control, with the same lack of success. I always get the message "could not set up output file".

    Any suggestions?

  8. You can try the latest version of Prism (1.25). If it still doesn't work you can try to install ffdshow codec: http://www.free-codecs.com/FFDshow_download.htm

Make sure you have "Use FFMPEG first" option disabled in Prism. This option can be found in Options->Conversions tab. Try to convert again.

Does anyone know how I can convert M2TS files into a usable file able to be uploaded to a website? I have the free download version of Prism and wonder if I should purchase the Plus version.

Also, how can I convert VOB files to files that can be uploaded to a website?

Both of these files (VOB and M2TS) will not convert with the free version.

Also, which file should I convert these to? Once I am able to convert of course.

    Any advice is appreciated.

    Thanks.

  9. You can try to change the compressor for mpg (Encoder options). Try to experiment by setting it to MPEG1/MPEG2 and you can also try different bitrates. I suggest that higher bitrates (around 8000 average) might work.

You can also try the new version of Prism (1.25).

We released it a few days ago. It includes updated compressor. Hopefully this will fix the issue.

I'm very interested in buying this program and have taken the time to convert and test a reasonably long video clip (25 minutes) from a DVD to all the formats provided in the free downloaded Prism version.

I am pleased with the ease this program does the conversion from a DVD to the various formats (I tested them all). However, there is one format, mpg, that displays red coloured blanks at a rate of about two per second thoughout the entire mpg formatted video clip exept for the beginning and two of the short clips that were on the DVD. This only occurs when viewed in Adobe Premier CS4 and does not occur when said file format is viewed in a standard viewer, such as Windows video viewer.

Recognizing this may not be an issue of concern to the developers of Prism, it would make a difference in whether I acquire a licensed version of this program.

Hoping to hear from anyone who has experienced this issue or may have a suggestion.

    Cheers,

    Michael

  10. Can you please try to enable "Use FFMPEG first" option (Options->Conversions tab) and try to convert your problematic files again?

after converting a good part of my movie library, ive discovered that some have no audio. how can I fix this?
  11. What OS do you use?

If it's Vista try to update your video card driver and you can also try to disable Aero desktop theme if you have it enabled.

I had it working fine until yesterday, I have no idea what happened. I didn't change any of the settings, but I did notice that when I uploaded the .wmv files to YouTube, they were no lonfger full screen width, but were cut off an inch or so on both sides. That's not the problem though. Now when I record, everything seems to be working fine just like before, except when i play back the recorded .wmv video my computer screen goes "BLACK" and it gives me an error message saying something about my video driver not responding!! And my monitor settings go to the lowest possible, meaning everything is super large like 800 x 600 or something like that and then I have to do a restart just to get back to a normal screen.. Frustrating as hell, cuz I had taken a half day off from work to spend recording some new videos for my YouTube Channel.. Can anyone tell me if maybe I have to make a change in my driver/codecs/ or whatever. I'm truly a novice at recording from a desktop cam (which BTW is a 3COM Home Connect cheap model, but was working fine for my purposes till now.. :(
  12. Thank you for your interest in Videopad!

We worked hard to get the first version out and we're glad you like it.

Unfortunately we experience some problems with DVD authoring at the moment and we're trying to fix them.

Hopefully we'll have the updated version of Videopad out soon.

Do you have any suggestions on general functionality? What features would you like to see in future releases?

I'm making video projects of clips from a Canon FS100. All seems to work right up to the last step. On my desktop where the DVD burner is installed, the burner is recognised by VideoPad and the 'build' routine, however after what seems like a complete compilation, an error is returned and no actual burning happens.

I wonder if the application has got as far as creating the .iso file before it crashes, and if so is it retrievable from a temp area? Anyone have clues as to where I should look? System is XP SP3.

PS this app actually works very well on an Asus eee pc 1000H, screen res set to 1024x768. Hard to believe!! But good!!! :P

  13. Thank you for your interest in our software.

We're trying to fix the "audio out of sync" issue and we need your help.

Can you please try the latest BETA version of Debut which is attached to this post?

TrashCorder also mentioned that camera stops for 3 minutes between files.

    We can't reproduce this problem.

You can help us by answering these questions:

    1) Do you use any Transmit Methods (Options->Transmit tab) for your recordings?

    2) Do you have the same problem if you capture to other formats except .wmv and .asf? Can you please try to capture to mp4?
