I'm taking a transcription course at a University in BC, Canada.
we are using Express Scribe in our class room, and I have dowloaded it to use at home..
at home I am using Win98SE and Word97 -- I know, old.. but very functional and working JUST FINE...
at school we are using XP and Word2007.. and I am finding it extremely frustrating..
I like to use the function keys instead of the pedal.. I use the Miniscribe, floating over my word document.. using mostly F7 to rewind, and F2 to process at a little less than life speed...
all works well at home... but at school... when I hit F7 to rewind, the cursor disappears from the Word Document, and I am forced to move my hand from the keyboard to click the mouse on the document in order to get the cursor back there and get transcribing again.. For a touch typist, thats the worst thing you can do, take your hands from the keyboard??
does anyone know if there is anything I can do about it, or is Expressscribe and just broken when using the function keys with XP and Word2007? I have to write all my exams at school under these conditions and it costs me marks and time..
hopefully, Helen
