I have the same problem with a serial db9 foot pedal. Why is it COM3? And why do they not talk. It works on a different computer just fine, but not on the computer where it needs too. Anybody figure it out yet? It looks like it has been a repeat problem...

Have you found the answer? I have a serial foot pedal and it acknowledges it on Com3 but when I go to press rewind, nothing happens. In the computer device manager it refers to it as prolific usb to serial port com 7. but there is no such port listed. However, it seems to recognize it on Com port 3. But then there is no communication. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.
