  1. I am a relatively new user of Express Scribe and am trying it out before deciding on my final software. I have also used Winscribe, Olympus and Philips digital transcription software in the past and have been able to do this in all of their software. I see there are place where you can type in file paths but the implication is that this is the path to load files from rather than where Express Scribe places the loaded copy of the file. By default Express Scribe places your dictation files on to the C: drive when you load them. My C: drive is not backed up so I would prefer my loaded files to go to my Z: drive in my Digital Dictation Folder. This is located on a server that is backed up every day and thus provides a more secure file store. I read a page (SDK page) that told me I could make command level changes by editing a file called settings.ini but this file does not exist on my hard drive. I have hidden files set to be visible on my computer. I have also tried searching for the file but that takes ages and has returned no results. Quote from SDK Page "Express Scribe settings are contained in the file "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\NCH Swift Sound\Scribe\settings.ini". Open the file with Notepad to view the 'raw' settings. To change these settings from within your program using the Windows 32 API command WritePrivateProfileString." I am not a programmer and do not know how to make API command changes. Please can someone help me??
