Hi all,
Note: I apologize in advance if this is a FAQ.
I am looking for the easiest way to convert all of my wma files to mp3 in an unattended, automated manner. I'd like for the process to behave thus:
For each wma file found in a specified directory and subdirectories (rooted in F:\Music), convert the original wma to mp3 preserving the fidelity and song metadata (artist, album, title, etc) as the original wma and copying the resultant .mp3 file to a similar folder on another drive (H:\Music). If any non-wma files (mp3, jpg, etc) are found in the source directory tree, simply copy the file to the destination unchanged.
For example, the source file
F:\Music\Creed\Human Clay8_With Arms Wide Open_Creed_Human Clay_96kbps.wma
would be converted to
H:\Music\Creed\Human Clay8_With Arms Wide Open_Creed_Human Clay_96kbps.mp3
with all of the file's metadata (artist, album, etc) intact.
I have thousands of wmas that I want to convert that are already in the correct folder hierarchy (rooted in F:\Music) of [artist]\[album]\[trackNumber]_[songTitle]_[artist]_[album]_[bitRate], and I don't really care if it takes days to finish; I just want everything converted without error. Ideally, if I had confidence that Switch wouldn't obliterate my library, I'd have it to the conversion in place and delete the original file (the copying from F: to H: would only be there as a safeguard in case there were mass conversion errors).
How would I do that using Switch?
Thanks in advance,
Matthew
