After posting I discovered that the different drum voices default to different stem directions. With that tidbit I can get the grace note stems to behave. Now if I can just those grace notes to be a little tighter to the main note...

I am writing drum music, so lots of grace notes, flams, ruffs, etc. I can add the grace notes but I can't do either of the following: move the grace notes closer to the main note or change the stem direction of the grace note to match the main note. Right now these ornaments looks pretty wonky with lots of space between the ornaments and the main note and the stems in different directions. Any help will be appreciated.
