Problem importing files into program

I am a new user of Switch and I am not having any success in importing a file from My Music folder into the Switch program so that I can do the conversion. I tried clicking on the file and using copy & paste and also tried dragging the file into the program but nothing happens. Can someone help me? I am trying to convert my real audio files to mp3 files so that I can download them into my MP3 player.
