How to trim or select section

I've have used other ringtone software and they all have a one button feature to start the captured selection and a one button feature to end the captured selection area. I'm not too keen on this ctrl+key feature as this is too cumbersome. Am I missing something. I have the free trial so is this feature disabled? It appears not to be. What am I doing wrong?

Use your left hand to hold down the CTRL key, and then use your right to select the KEY you wish. There, now it's almost just like pressing one key...
