Slooow loading and writing mp3 files

I really like the editing features and was able to quickly split files and delete unwanted data. The problem is it takes upwards of 15-30 minutes to load or save large mp3 files - 50 to 150 Mb. I'm running a 600Mhz Pentium 3 with xp that works well with other applications. Am I doing something wrong?

You are using a relatively slow processor compared to what's our there today, and you are dealing with relatively large mp3 files also. The combination of these will result in the slow encoding time you are experiencing.
