trouble with ogg & flac

Running Switch v1.13 on powerbook G4 1.5gHz 10.4.10

Free version over 14 days. (tried only once same problem gave up)

With .ogg and .flac files.

First time did not have plugins.

Today I put oggenc and oggdec and flacenc and flacdec in library/application support/NCH Swift Sound/Components.

Put an .ogg file and a .flac file in the Switch window.

If I hit play a window flashes and disappers, no play.

If I hit convert same sort of window appears and a 4kb file shows up in the destination folder but not the full converstion.

WHen I downloaded oggdec it came as oggdec.txt

which gave the error message that I needed the plugin.

mp3el was already in this folder. It's file type is a unix executable.

but for each of the ones I added is document.

Double clicking any of the files did not install them in the folder.

But did open Terminal.

I assume there is a problem with these components as downloaded from"

http://www.nch.com.au/components/mac/index.html

Or this feature does not work after 14 days.

Any help,

thanks

========================================================================

Although you are using a Macintosh, you are not alone as far as Ogg is concerned, other than that you are using the free version, while I am using the purchased version. In case you don't know it, this _does_ often make a vital difference, particularly in the performance with "extras," however this may be defined.

I am using a PC with Windows XP and cannot get Ogg (as furnished by NCH) to function properly. See my new post on this subject (Send in the Wizard!), which details the problem that I have encountered with Ogg on my Windows computer. If past experience with NCH is any guide, they will simply sit on this and expect it to go away. But I intend to stay after them with bulldog persistence, unless of course they decide to scrub out my posts on this subject, a procedure that they are not hesitant to use if all else fails :-). However, censorship is _not_ a substitute for the appropriate action, which is to get busy and promptly FIX the problem, at least if it involves simply updating Ogg to the current version.

I do not (yet) have any trouble with flac, however, and will keep my fingers crossed. Things have a habit of getting buried (is this what is meant by down under?) when no one is looking.

Enough of this dilly-dallying. Send in the Wizard!
