Express Scribe - Wine - Ubuntu Linux (Debian)

After installing wine from the wine repository for Ubuntu Dapper (as directed by the wine homepage,) I installed exscribe via the instructions on the linux instructions page. I get the application to open, and I get it to load dictation files. It does not, however, play them. It doesn't fast forward either. No playback. It doesn't move forward 1 second when I press play, or when I press a function key for play or select play from the dropdown menu. I get no errors, just no play.

 

Any ideas?
