Load CD -- Hangs

Wavepad 4.27 on Vista Home Premium sp1;

CD/DVD::: TSST corp TS-L633M

 

 

When I click on the "Load CD" Icon, The pop up window shows up titled "Scanning Available Drives" but no progress is ever made [left alone for 1hour]. Clicking cancel shows that no CD roms are recognized.

 

Now if I go File->Open file and choose e: drive [my dvd/cd-rom drive] it reads the files.

 

Thoughts? Any reason "Load CD" wouldn't find the drive?
