WavePad or MixPad

I've used WP to make some short audio clips for a quiz. No problems and it's worked well.

 

What I now want to do is to splice all these together with voice recordings between the clips, all as one sequential file. I didn't really want to go down the line of using MixPad as that would essentially leave me with a multi-track recording, with each clip occupying one track and the voice-overs on an additional track. If nothing else, that takes quite some fiddling to sort out the time intervals between tracks and the voice overs.

 

Any thoughts? Is there an easy way to 'add' one file to the end of an existing file, with voice-overs between the tracks to produce a single sequential recording? I can't see anything immediately obvious in the 'words'.
