Express Scribe and .dss files - resolved??

I don't know about you guys, but I have spent numerous hours trying to figure out how to play the .dss files on ES. I had no problem until I restored computer and then bam, couldn't play them. Yes, downloaded EVERY codec out there and didn't work. I actually got it to work ONE time when I went to properties on ES and changed the combatibility box but then, had to restore again. So, now couldn't get it working and just gave up and was going to purchase another program to play sound files. BUT, I ran into a program called Powerplayer for transcriptionists and was reasonably priced so I downloaded the free trial and it plays the .dss files. BUT, it actually changes the .dss extension to be able to play on Powerplayer AND then I could load the same files in ES. I hope this helps someone else because I love ES and would love to keep working with it.
