no icon or menu for tools??

Hi, 

backed up the data (in the log file) or I thought I did . Just tried a clean install of the software because I was unable to input new contacts which seems to be common fault. However only files in the log file are  txt files. Where is my old data? How do I reinstall them? 

please help guys.
