OK but I don't hear the audio from a recording. I just see the wave form as it plays. ???

When I open soundtap it has movement as if it is already recordfing. It isn't recording. When I click on start recording, it starts. When I finish and hit find and play, it finds it and I hit play and see the playback but I can't hear it. I had no problems when I had version 3. Same computer. Asus tower 2017 model with 8 Gig of Ram; 2 TB hd; high speed Internet. When I use Audacity everything works fine. Anyone have any help for this problem?
