  1. Do you have the latest version of IVM (v4.02) installed?

And is your "Default reply email" box in the Email Settings filled in correctly?

I have the new version and the settings are all OK. In fact, I have been able to make it work. Sort of. My ISP authenticates by checking to see if I have read my mail recently. By using Outlook to read the mail, then using the simulator to send a message to myself, it worked just as it should. But once the authentication times out. It refuses to send the message. Is there any way to trick the system into believing I have logged on to receive mail first? Perhaps a script that would launch Outlook and download the messages?

  2. I am unable to get IVM to send emails. Eudora works fine. I have set the same login parameters in IVM as in Eudora, but IVM reoports:

    Sending Email
Mail host server error (MAIL FROM not accepted) Please check your Email Settings.

I get the same result when I select Send using a SMTP Server or Send directly to other side. I have tried all the suggestions in the help files and still get the same result. I have focused most of my effort on the mail account that comes with our DSL service from Verizon in the USA. Our separate webhost also provides email, but you have to check your mail before you can send anything (anti-spam policy) and I was not able to get that to work either.

  3. I upgraded from 4.01 to 4.02 yesterday and now I get a message that says

    IVM Answering Attendant Run
Unable to start the background service! Will attempt to run in foreground.

It ran fine as a service before, but not since. I upgraded because I read that 4.02 fixed some problems sending emails. I am still trying to get that feature to work so it may be something I did that caused the problem rather than the version upgrade. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this?

  4. I was having trouble with 4.01 also which was my first installation. I installed 4.02 and the program has been trying to send emails for the last 15 minutes. Apparently when I first started, I had an error in reply address because every message gets this response from the SMTP server: "Mail host server error (MAIL FROM not accepted). Please check your Emal Settings." Does anyone know how to clear out the buffer without uninstalling the program completely?

I figured this one out myself. Just delete the messages from the mailbox.
