  1. My application is very straightforward. I need to simply record a number of inbound-only phone lines where the caller leaves a message. There will be nobody talking on the receiving end - just the inbound caller. I want the system to pick up each line, play a brief message such as "Begin speaking at the tone", and end recording when the caller hangs up. My questions are.... Will the VRS software (1-7 line) permit me to do this and, if so, can i do this with basic voice modems? If so, which voice modems are recommended or perform best?

No, it´s impossible. The VRS Recording can´t do this. For use like eletronical secretary you need use "IVM Answering Attendant" with a VOICE MODEM, like Us.Robotics 56 k ISA, it´s excelente for this task.

    Best regards.

    * 1 line for each voice modem, ok?

  2. For that you probably need a multichannel card. See www.nch.com.au/vrs/acc.

    It´s not necessay!

Theoretically is possible record 6 channels with only a Sound Blaste Live 5.1 or Audigy, but VRS Recording don´t recognize ASIO drivers (not original Creative Labs drivers)... I already send a e-mail for your Peter, but until today i never receive any answer

It´s a shame... Becausa VRS Recordind could grow up more and more!

  3. Hi i recently setup VRS in a call centre, but used multi channel sound cards.

From the top of my head, its very simple to setup with out multi channel soundcards.

What you need to do is buy a Y cable (l/r mono to stereo) from your local musical store, now you plug the Y  cable in the line in on the sound card.

Now you open the VRS software, create a name on channel one and click settings to edit its properties.  Now you select the soun card your using and select either right channel mono, or left channel mono for the input device.

    It´s a shame.

  4. Am runing a VRS with 6 Channel

am use  a sound card and other 2 usb sond input

i have setup sound card as channel 1 ,2

    then usb1  to channel 3,4

    and  usb2  to channel 5,6

every time i restart my computer is missing the order of this

some time i found  usb1 as channel 1,2  ,usb2 as  channel 3,4 and sound card as 5,6

other time is different  layout  why  this happen?

Because the 1 USB Sound Car is setting like DEFAULT in Windows... So the VRS Recording change the position of record.

  5. I understand caller id work with sound

when someone  call the callerd is pick up this sound and convert to digit and show in caller id

in order to use vrs  software we need a special device to see number

will may be able to descramble that sound and use as caller id and put the info as incomming call  and show the number

Dual-tone-multi-frequency (DTMF) so it´s very easy to detect the sound of board.

  6. Disregard my last post. I switched over to a CallURL board and it does not have the same issues as the Dialogic D/4PCI board. I am able to record and detect caller-id on the same port.

I think your problem is that the signal coming in is very noisy. Maybe you can find a line filter for that problem.

    Yes... excess of noise.

  7. I have a CallURL Voice 8LV. This is a great card except I can't get it to report the name of the caller on an incoming call. Only the callers phone number is reported. Is there a way to get the card to report the caller's name? Thanks.

It´s impossible... The VRS Recording Software don´t have a option to create a call list book. So... You can see the name of who is calling... Only the number.

    Bye.

  8. I am trying to record calls made from a USB phone on my computer , using the VRS software. Has anyone any tips on using USB devices like YAP phone or USB headsets and recording the two -way conversation using VRS?

I can´t help you, because i never used this solution... but i know that is possible record conversation with microfone if you chosse "Windows Record Mixer" like the device of sound card...

By "windows record mixer" you can recorder everything in audio that pass trough by the sound card... included the other side of conversation.
