I transferred music file to expansion drive where I have 80 gb free and got the same message

The file is mp3 and size is 980592 kb

I am trying to split a talking book file 17 hrs in length into 3 min intervals.

When I try to load to split i get the following messages

I receive message " insufficient hard drive space to store the audio" and another " Wavepad could not open the file for editing"

I have 16gb available on Hard drive
