I was trying to play some WAV files created by Wavepad on Realplayer. It would not play 2117 kbs files but did play 1411. What is the difference in quality of sound and if I have to how would I convert the WAV files to the lower number?

Can I set up a key or function key to activate "Play" instead of moving the cursor over to the play arrow? I DID discover that the "Delete" key works like the "cut" editing feature.

The only reason I use Audacity is that I haven't figured out (or tried to) how to record in WP. The editing features in WP seem to be superior and someday I will have to try recording in WP

I normally record on Audacity, then export as a WAV to WP. There are no options listed other than just to export.

Then I edit in WP and when I "save as" I get a menu of "attributes" listing saving as PCM, and choices of 8000 bit all the way to 48000 bit, mono or stereo. I am interested in maximum quality. but wonder what "attributes" came with the export to WP and whether the choices listed above make any difference after I have finished editing.

There's no way to redo this. All I want to do is clean it up as much as possible. I HAD made some temporary improvements by randomly clicking various options on Wavepad, but can't reconstruct them so any samll help will be appreciated.

I recorded some music and the microphone is not very good. As a result the loudest passages of the music break up and give a crackling sound.

I realize that it won't be perfect but I would appreciate help in what features to use to try to clarify or least reduce the distortion so I can listen. I am NOT a disc jockey so don't understand all the "jargon" on "pass" filters, etc so would appreciate a simplified step-by-step procedure to clean this up.
