I have several .ppp files produced in a previous version of photopad and all I get is error cannot open

I have created speech files using Olympus VN-2100PC Digital Voice Recorder and have trandferred them to hard disk. I want to create audio CDs that will run on an ordinary home CD player but seem to get only CDs that will run on a PC using Windows Media Player. The files on hard disk are .wav and their "Properties" shows they run using Windows Media PLayer.
