My version is 3.89. The problem persists in 4.00, though.

When I make a project in VideoPad, the highest preview resolution I can set is 1024x576. I would be interested in being able to set a higher resolution, like 1280x720 or 1920x1080. The reason is because when I edit video, the placement of overlays can get seriously messed up if I edit a video in 1024x576 and then export it at 1080p. For example, text I have at the bottom of the screen that I select to have a background color to be shown behind the text is perfectly in frame when editing at 1024x576, but when I export in 1080p, that same text is not in the proper place, leading to a portion of the text to be offscreen. You can replicate this problem (maybe) by putting some text on the timeline near the bottom of the screen and changing resolutions to see its placement change. I didn't change from a 16:9 resolution to a 4:3 or custom aspect ratio one either, all the resolutions I tried were 16:9 aspect ratio.

So, this problem could be solved by changing the preview resolution to 1080p, right? Anybody know how I can go about doing that, or maybe it could happen in a future release?

Whenever I go to the green screen effect and want to select a color, I have to do some guesswork to identify the color, or sometimes take a snapshot and then open a photo editor and use the eyedropper tool there. Could Videopad add an eyedropper tool in a future version?

I use an FX-8320 at home and VideoPad does use all eight cores while editing but for exporting it will depend on the codec you're using. When exporting to H.264 it should use all of them.

I currently use H.264 and that's wonderful! This was going to be a make-or-break between VideoPad and Sony Vegas, but I'm glad I'll get to keep my preferred video editor.

I have VideoPad version 3.74 and I was just wondering if VideoPad had multi-core CPU support yet. I am going to build a PC soon for editing and wanted to know if VideoPad could take full advantage of the eight-core FX-8320 that I'll be using. Thanks.

What would be better for editing on the timeline: a great CPU, a great video card, or more RAM?

VideoPad is pretty smooth for me (in version 3.58 anyway) but it still can freeze and be slow on the timeline. I want to get a new CPU, which will help with rendering times, but what hardware affects editing on the timeline the most?

Hello. I use version 2.41 and have noticed something strange about the videos I export in VideoPad. I will export a video, and then upload it to YouTube, and I see these black lines on the top, sides, and bottom of the video. It's hardly noticeable, but I was just wondering. I export all my videos in 1920 x 1080, so it's not a cropping issue. I also crop and zoom pictures and videos that aren't 16:9 so that they are, as well. This doesn't happen to me in different versions strangely enough.

I'm reasonably certain that it won't. 2.41 doesn't run on Windows 8/8.1.

You're not going to believe this, but after a few minutes of messing around, I got 2.4.1 for Windows 8.1. I went to my Win7 desktop computer, went into its Program Files x86 folder, and right-clicked on the folder called "NCH Software", and I clicked "Copy". I put in a flash drive, pasted the folder onto the drive and put the same flash drive into my Windows 8.1 laptop. I dragged the "NCH Software" folder from my flash drive into my Program Files folder on my laptop. I went into the NCH Software folder > VideoPad and right-clicked on the application called "videopad". I clicked "Create Shortcut" and put a shortcut to this file on my desktop. I renamed the file from "videopad - Shortcut" to "VideoPad" and right-clicked "Properties". I went into the "Compatibility" tab and checked "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and set it to "Windows 7". I applied my changes and opened version 2.4.1 without any issue on my 8.1 laptop.

I am on a 64-bit Windows 8.1 laptop, and have worked with Videopad a lot in the past. And I thought that version 2.4.1 was, by far, the best version they've ever released. I still have it installed on my other computer, a Windows 7 desktop, and I was interested in installing it on my laptop. However, when I downloaded that particular version for my laptop, it said that it was not compatible with my version of Windows. I figured I could get it to work by installing it and then messing around with its settings in compatibility mode. However, this warning will not let me install it anyway. I was wondering if there were any ways around this and if 2.4.1 would even work under compatibility mode on WIndows 8 or 8.1.

I was also thinking I could copy the Videopad 2.4.1 files from my Program Files folder on my Win7 desktop, putting them on a flash drive and then just pasting them into my program files (create a shortcut, badda bing badda boom) on my laptop, but I'm not sure if that would work.

The green line has gone through the entire sequence, so it doesn't have to load or anything, so I don't see what's wrong with it.

When I try and save my video (version 3.12), all it says is "Scanning Available Drives." It wont say anything else. I'm trying to do something for school, and this is really irritating me.

Ok. Thanks for your input. I'll upgrade when I'm done with this project so it doesn't slow it down even more.

When I open VideoPad and open my project, I can never just play my project. It has to build preview, and even after waiting about fifteen minutes for it to build, I play it and it's still slow and lags. I wouldn't like to upgrade unless if it's a last resort. The projects I am making were first created using 3.02 and I'm still using 3.02, so I don't know why it's taking so long. I've tried clearing the cache and even loading it without going on the Internet or having any other programs open, but to no avail.

Let's say I stick with version 3.041. If I create a project using this version, then open it still using this version later, will it still be slow to load the clips and thumbnails?

But wait, isn't 2.41 vastly different from version 3? I would like to stick with at least the version after 2.41.

Ok. I just downloaded 3.41 and it's bad. It slows down what I'm doing in my browser, and it is still slow and building preview, even after I deleted the cache.

This is really troubling me. So, if anybody can give me an answer, please give me one.

I rollbacked and it's still not working. it says it is building the preview, but it's taking FOREVER.

When I open a project in this new version of VideoPad, it won't load my project at all. If I click play, it will be slow or not even play. NCH needs to stop making these new versions of VideoPad that wont work. They just need to stick to one thing that does.
