  1. Just updated to latest version of Express Scribe for Mac, using a VEC Infinity USB-2 pedal that was working fine until today. Yesterday (previous version of Express Scribe) my MacBook Pro using OS X 1.6 (Snow Leopard) was recognizing the pedal just fine, although occasionally it would "lose" it and I'd have to reconnect it. Today, no matter what I do -- unplug and replug, repair permissions, restart -- Express Scribe does not recognize that the pedal is there at all. There's no driver to be downloaded and installed that I can find (or recall ever having to find before). The USB ports are working okay -- anyone have any other ideas. The support (or lack thereof, since they don't seem to think it's worth the effort to make the Help files accessible from a Mac) is a real negative for this equipment and software.

  2. I just installed the new 4.26 version of Express scribe on my mac and my foot pedal will not work. I know my computer recognizes my foot pedal; however, there are no options on Express Scribe to set up my foot pedal. The only thing the foot pedal does is after I have pressed play with my keyboard or mouse on ES, I can press the foot pedal and it will rewind the dictations. It is definitely not a problem with my foot pedal, as I can use it on other computers, but this seems to be a problem with Express Scribe not communicating properly with the foot pedal.

Does anyone else have this problem or know of a solution?

    Thanks,

  3. I'm using a VEC Infinity USB-2 foot pedal with my MacBook Pro with Snow Leopard (OSX 10.6) and Express Scribe v. 4.30 Intel. It was working just fine yesterday. Today I go to start up and Express Scribe is not recognizing that the pedal is there. I have repaired my permissions, restarted, unplugged and re-plugged the cable and continue to get the message "The selected port or device could not be opened." I had this happen a couple of days ago and switched to a different USB port and it started to work. Of course I'm in the middle of a time-sensitive job and really need this. Can anyone help?

  4. I have a Mighty Mouse and don't know how the "right click" instruction translates from this, but so far have had no luck locating the manual promised in the purchase and am feeling pretty antagonistic about this misrepresentation--if you tell me you're selling me software for MAC with a manual, that is what I expect and should get and shouldn't have to go searching all over the place to access it.

    Hello,

I am very grateful to VicH who posted following message on another forum:

Mac Users looking for the Manual:

There is a known bug regarding access to the Mac User Manual.

The work around is to right click on the application and select Show Package Contents--> Contents--> Resources--> Help--> index.html

That should get you to the manual.

because the advice works for Switch as well. Great relief!

When I purchased the software the manual was promised. After that I visited all of NCH's site, FAQs (no use trying the F1 on a Mac), Technical Support etc.... but no help found.

So: thanks a lot Vic!! :)

  5. From what I read, I am supposed to be able to open and convert msv files to mp3s with Switch Plus. What I understood I was buying was Switch PLUS, but what the software info window shows is v 1.5 for Intel (I'm on a Mac OS 10.4.11) and nothing about Plus. When I try to add msv files to be converted, they are grayed out and cannot be added and therefore cannot be converted. So far I have a not very favorable impression of this company. If what I ended up with is not Switch Plus needed to convert MSV files, then I see no mechanism for actually communicating with NCH to get it sorted out. There seems to be a different download link for Switch Plus (i activated the trial version of Switch that I had previously downloaded and tried out, but at that time didn't need to deal with msv files. Can't tell if I activated an older version than what I paid for an am afraid if I download and install from the Switch Plus button that I'll mess up the activation altogether. Arrgghh!! Can anyone tell me if the version I have activated is actually the Plus program that I paid for--if not, that could explain why it doesn't recognize the msv files to add them. It certainly wasn't clear from the purchase pages' instructions.
