  1. Have you found the answer? I have a serial foot pedal and it acknowledges it on Com3 but when I go to press rewind, nothing happens. In the computer device manager it refers to it as prolific usb to serial port com 7. but there is no such port listed. However, it seems to recognize it on Com port 3. But then there is no communication. Anyone have any ideas?

    Thanks.

Change the port to VEC infinity USB pedals instead of COM3

  2. Smiley- Try plugging into a different USB port- uninstall and reinstall express scribe. That usually fixes the said issue.

Raghav- Are you running yours through a DB9 adapter to USB? Note that if you are running any serial port through an adapter NCH doesn't officially support that setup. It's almost a crap shoot as some adapters tend to work, some don't. If you are not using an adapter at all, I would suggest that you too, should uninstall Express Scribe and then reinstall it.

  3. I have an Infinity USB foot pedal. I went to the NCH site and installed the correct driver (I think; at any rate, I installed *a* driver, and I believe it's the right one).

Whenever I open the options menu on Express Scribe and try to set up my pedal with the wizard, it doesn't work. I do have "3 pedals" selected, so that's not the problem.

Whenever I press the "Foot Pedal Control Setup Wizard" button, I get an error message saying, "The selected port or device could not be opened."

When I read through this forum before, I got the idea that installing the driver might fix this problem, but apparently not. Why can't it open my port or device, please, and what do I do about it?

    Thank you for your help!

Make sure you also Change the port to VEC infinity USB pedals.

  4. I am trying to set up the 3-pedal foot pedal to COM 1 (serial) port. When I click to open the Wizard it tells me to press and then release the Rewind pedal, then to press and release the Fast-forward pedal. This works fine, but then when it tells me to press the Play pedal it does nothing. Since I have setup many of these foot pedals without any problem, I'm assuming that maybe the Play pedal is broken. Where can send the foot pedal for repair, or is it just better to purchase a new pedal? I'm not sure when the pedal was purchased, but I've had it for some time.

    thanks, hardingjs

    try this:

Open express scribe (foot pedal can be plugged in or not.) It may say foot pedal not found - just click ok.

    Go to options - Control.

Make sure the box next to "use foot pedal playback control" is checked.

Change the port to VEC infinity USB pedals

change number of pedals to 3.

Click on the Foot pedal control setup wizard.

it will tell you to press rewind, release rewind, press fastforward, release....etc.

Then click ok at the bottom.

  5. I am having a major issue with my pedal since upgrading to Vista. I get an error message USB Device Not Recognized. I have four USB ports, they all do the same thing, and I've tried other USB devices and it only happens with my pedal.

I did get a response about this but I'm trying to follow up and not getting an answer. I REALLY just want to know if I need to buy a new pedal or if this issue can be fixed. Can someone help me, PLEASE?????

  6. :( I am in desperate, and I mean desperate, need of help!!! I have posted a bunch of messages on this board and some answers have been posted but none help me. I am having problems with my foot pedal since I upgraded to Vista. I was told (by technical support) that I need to upgrade my drivers to be compatible with Vista. BUT THEY NEVER SAID WHERE OR HOW TO GET THE DRIVERS!!!!!!!!!!! Can anyone PLEASE help me??? I am frustrated - can you tell????? I don't want to purchase support because I'd almost rather put my money towards a new pedal (if I thought that would help, which was another unanswered question!!)

My error message when I plug my pedal in is USB Device Not Recognized. But on occasion I can get it recognized but it may quit in the middle of my file. Transcription is my income and I need my pedal!!!

    Thanks, whitehrl

  7. Is there anyway to mute the voluming when I am rewinding the audio in Express Scribe? Thanks.

You can press play again and it will stop the file. Then press rewind and it will rewind with no sound. Hope this helps.
