  1. Sound Tap seems very easy to use, but I would like to know when breaks in a streaming audio might become an issue -

If I'm recording a stream that might have a few moments of silence--dramatic pauses--and I'd like to record continuously through those breaks would I be better off selecting "Ignore breaks in audio streams"? And if so what should I set for "Ignore breaks shorter than (milliseconds)"? Thanks very much.

I'd suggest 45 seconds, any longer than that and the program may assume the stream has stopped, I edit all recordings with a wave cutter-Easy Audio Cutter is free

  2. Hi!

As SoundTap starts to record, it will show the six digit number as you had mentioned. But on the actual SoundTap program, the screen should say something like"SoundTap is recording the audio stream to file [C:\Doc..../200901-10 121545.mp3]

It's the last number '545' that I look at then go to "Find and Play" to search. It always ends at the bottom and not the top of the list for me. Then I close the player, if I played to check if it recorded okay, then I right click and push"rename". Always end it with ".wav" or ".mp3" depending on how you set your recordings.

    Hope this helps...

Adding to 'jida's response, the numbers represent the date and time of the recording, naming is essential for storage purposes

  3. hI:

i AM RECORDING A SOUND FILE AND THE FILE IS SENT TO MY ONBOARD DRIVE "C" hOW DO i CHOOSE WHERE TO PUT THIS FILE?

i WOULD RATHER PUT IT ON MY EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE WHICH HAS THE ROOM NEEDED FOR THE FILES i WANT TO SAVE.

Stop the recording, select options, general information will open; the first thing you see is the recording folder's current destination. Change the destination by clicking on the box and making your choice.

  4. I thought I should be able to record from cassettes from my stereo, the sound is set to Soundtap, yet it doesn't recognize the streaming audio that I happen to hear; have I configured the system incorrectly? i could have sworn I got Soundtap to accomplish this when I first ran the program, have forgotten what I did then and my manual isn't coming up when F1 is pressed. I'd appreciate any and all input on this problem.
