  1. Hi,

Sound tap installs its own virtual audio driver, and will only work on a 32 bit OS.

It also needs to be started before any other programs that you want to record from because when it starts, it automatically switches the playback device, to be the sound tap audio device.

So thats why programs need to be started after sound tap because of this change when it starts up.

This doesn't really answer my question.

Is Vista a "32-bit OS"in the required sense?

If (in Vista on a Lenovo X61s) I start Sound Tap before another program that I want to record from -- say Firefox -- will it work?

If so, I'll buy a copy with enthusiasm. If not, it doesn't help me.

  2. There's a well-known and annoying design feature of new Lenovo laptops (e.g. the X61s) -- they lack the "stereo mix" feature that normally allows you to record what is played back. See for example this discussion:

It's possible to get around the problem in software using "Virtual Audio Cable"

    http://software.muzychenko.net/eng/vac.html

but this system is rather complicated to use.

When I try SoundTap, it looks to me as if it fails to solve this problem. If I'm wrong, I'd love to buy a copy, and I expect that lots of other Lenovo users would as well.

    Thanks,
