  1. Thanks very good tip. I killed my Windows Firewall before I saw this to fix the problem lol

FYI... I was having problems getting port forwarding to work with Microsoft Vista.

I was using the default port value of "88" in the port forwarding table in my router but I still could not access the services on my server from anywhere on the network.

Since I'm using the Vista O/S on the server and it has it's own native firewall software I found that it had an entry for the NCH "Broadwave Web Server" but for some reason it was opening up port "85" by default, not port "88"!! Most of the exceptions in the firewall list is associated with the software's executable file, but NOT with "Broadwave".

If you're having this problem and are running Vista, see what port number is listed in this field.

Go to Control Panel, click on the "Security Center" icon, then choose "Windows Firewall" and then "Change Settings". Then click on the "Exception Tab", highlight the listing for "Broadwave Web Server", and then click on "Properties". The port is listed there. The "TCP" protocol should also be selected if it isn't already.

Hope this might save you some head scratching time. I also submitted a bug report so one of the developers can fix this in the next release...

  2. That's very helpful, but do you know what Port numbers to use to setup your router for public internet access?

    Thanks.

Port 88 is default. You can see for yourself in Options you can change it there too if you like.

also try using www.dyndns.com/ (linksys routers have a option that automatically updates this site with your current public IP address) and you can have a stationary web address. its free.

  3. could broadwave be used in the same way sam is?

meaning, could i use it to stream to my shoutcast server with voice options, etc. the description of the product seems kind of vague to me.

if you don't know what sam is, here you go: http://www.spacialaudio.com/?page=sam-broa...caster-overview

No. BroadWave is a simple program that doesn't have the options. there is a live broadcast option but will not use a shoutcast server.

  4. My intention is to send streaming audio to my son's pc in another city.

I have downloaded Broadwave but can not use it outside my home network

My modem router is a Siemens ADSL SL2-141

Plz i need a comprehensive step by step guide for a novice (myself)

    Thank you in advance

    First try disabling your firewall(s).

    >you'll find it in control panel -> Windows firewall -> disable (if ya didn't know) or

  5. Hello!

I'm using Broadwave to stream my MP3 files to my computer at work. However, I notice it plays the playlist sequentially - how can I have the program randomize the order it plays?
