  1. To all my fellow brushies...I figured out that pesky problem with vista and wavepad. It's not a problem of compatability at all but a problem of simply enabling what shouldn't have been disabled in the first place. Yes, they will do such lame things to make us think a little bit but at the end it all will work itself out.

For those that didn't reply to my concerns, let me lend a helping hand. Here is the scoop on how I got mine to work.

Here is what you will need to do:

    1. right click on speaker(volume) icon on bottom right of monitor(beside the clock)

    2. select recording devices

    3. right click on auxilary option

    4. select show disable devices

    5. with this selection, as you scroll down, there should appear another selection which says "stereo mix"

    6. select this stereo mix and enable it...

    7. then go back to wavepad to into your recording device and set it to "stereo mix"

    Hope this helps.

  2. I'm a bit mystified by these sorts of posts as I'm using Vista x64 and have no difficulties whatsoever - normally x64 is unhappy with everything.

Aside from the usual rather lame suggestions like "check your soundcard", try turning off all the Record Control Options (under 'Advanced Control Settings') - Auto-Start, Auto-Trim, and Voice-Activation. This, at the very least, makes it easier to check whether the record-clock is running when testing.

I have noticed that the record button kind of "sticks" from time to time (rather like a real deck), so try clicking the 'Stop' button first, then 'Record'.

I'm using an Asus Xonar D2 sound card (the one with all the christmas lights), so any suggestions about what 'Device' to set would be impractical, though you could try setting the Device to Stereo Mix and the 'Input' to Windows Record Mixer. This records whatever is playing on the speakers at the time so it's easier to test.

And remember that you won't see a wave representation of the sound until you end the recording, so the clock-count is all you have to go by.

And just for the hell of it: Check your soundcard. Drivers, cables, et cetera.

Thanks for the reply here....but I have tried setting the device to Stereo Mix and the Input to Windows record mixer....Nothing happens. I went into the sound car and check it out.....nothing. I wonder if it's a compatible issue with my sound card overall?

  3. <_< I have the same problem and I can't figure it out either? Does anyone have any luck with Vista and Wavepad together? Any suggestions would be very helpful.
  4. I have used wavepad before on Windows XP system and it works fine. Bought new computer with Vista. Installed wavepad and tried to record sounds. After configuring record control; for Device it's set to default and for input, I have 2 choices, I have window record mixer or master volume setting. Tried using both settings and nothing happens when recording. I have no other choice to select from for input. This is what is causing my problem, can anyone help out or suggest other settings in Vista?
