  1. Get Express Scribe versions 3.07 to 4.15 here

    The above are free versions.

There is also a Time Stamping Software there that works well with Free ES version 4.0 to 4.32 and may be above version 4.32.

Do contribute free versions of softwares for transcription (Medical/Legal/General)at the above stated site to help one and all.

  2. I have developed a word macro for getting time stamp from express scribe using a shortcut. Now a days am trying to develop a macro for playing audiofile in express scribe, when we click a time stamp in MSword. Please help if anybody have any idea..........................

Thanks Binu for the macro. It is working very fine with my ES version 4.05. However, instead of adding this scribe.dot file via Templates and Add-Ins of MS Word by first lowering the security level to medium, one just needs to go and install at C:\Documents and Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Word\STARTUP. You just need to make an execution file for that. I just simply have to press keys Ctrl+3 to get the time stamp in my MS Word 2003 or press Ctrl+4 to get the word "inaudible" before the time stamp. I just never liked the long time stamp of ES where one would have to use both the mouse and then the keyboard.

Now I am wishfully looking forward to your new macro for playing a dictation in ES when we click a time stamp in MS Word. I am not sure, but this may be like working back to ES. One could highlight the time stamp and copy to clipboard and let ES pick it up from there.

  3. Why is it that the file names in the current/done folder of Express Scribe are not the same as loaded on Express Scribe. For example I have uploaded to ES a file: 091609-12-C-OEIM0518.DSS of 211 KB from an online working platform. In the Current Folder of ES it is shown as 00004147.wav of 2671 KB. Why so? Cannot the file name remain the same?

  4. I am very new to transcribing and express scribe. So far, I love it. But, I'm having a problem getting all the files I loaded to play without having to go back and click on another. Is there a way to do this? Sorry, if this is a stupid question, but I can't figure out how to get all my files to play in succession.

    Thanks for your help!

I am a transcriber too. Just press and keep pressed the "Alt" key and then press the "Tab" key, keep tabbing the Tab key to move from one open program to another. Thereby you move to Express Scribe and by pressing the down key you can move to the next dictation. You avoid using the mouse.

Also, I have tried downloading a dss voice file (one I use daily) and it is telling me "can't open audio file. parameter is incorrect." I need help with this ASAP so I can get working!!! 6. I'm new to ExpressScribe, and I've been trying for a week to get the program to play my DSS files. The files seem to download correctly but the duration is :00. I initially tried the new 4.17 version with no success. After reading about this same subject in a few recent posts, I found an older 4.05 version to download (along with the component patch). However, no luck there either. I've rebooted, installed, uninstalled, reinstalled, etc. (running Window XP Professional SP2).

Is anyone else still having trouble with the DSS files? Any suggestions? Thanks!

  7. I have found Express Scribe 4.05 as the best dictation player. All the subsequent versions all the way to 4.17 are problematic. If members have difficulty finding this free software please visit:

    http://www.4shared.com/dir/3130156/34dfa22...nscription.html

You will find there Express Scribe 4.05. zip that also has NCH components of DSS. You may find some other useful softwares there too. All are free to download. You can contribute to maintaining this site by uploading Zipped MT dictation practice files with keys like BMT, IMT, & AMT, Stedmans medical dictionaries & specialties, QuickLook, Spell Checkers. Do not forget to mention the version numbers against the name of the files that you upload.

    Glad to be of help.
