  1. When I first began using Express Scribe, I could easily go back and forth between Channel 1 and Channel 2 using my keyboard. Now I have to use my mouse and that is quite a pain when you're typing large jobs and need to do it quite often. Does anyone know if there is a fix to this? I do not see this anywhere in the Hotkey setups. Thank you for your help!

  2. Hi

I've searched this topic and found that two people asked the same question last September but no responses have been posted.

I've just switched to Express Scribe (I have version 4.33) from "The Record Player" from "For the Record." I'm used to being able to use hot keys to switch among channels (Ctr-1, Ctr-2 etc. to switch to channel 1, 2, etc.). The only way I can see to switch among channels on Express Scribe is the "Channels Control" window and it seems as though the only way to do it is by using the mouse. I checked the "Hot Key Setup" feature but I don't see any way to set up hot keys for switching channels.

Using the mouse is quite inconvenient and slow. Have I missed something or is that really the only way to switch among channels? Aside from this apparent flaw, I think I would prefer using Express Scribe to The Record Player, but for me this is a major shortcoming in Express Scribe.

    Can anyone help?

    Thanks

    Patita

Did you ever find an answer? I have the same problem and it is driving me batty!

  3. I have done this once before and it worked, and now I cannot get it to work.

I have a micro cassette recorder connected to my computer and have chosen "audio cable method". I think I have everything connected correctly. It transfers the audio to Express Scribe, but when I play it back, it plays very very very draggy and slow.

Any help would be so appreciated. It is only a very short audio file (maybe 10 minutes), but I would much rather do it through ES and not just keep hitting play and stop and rewind.

    Thank you...

  4. How long does it take to get past "the spot"? I have listened for a long time, it seems, and it still goes back. This is so frustrating!! Please help!!!

Is there any way for me to split the file myself?

    Thanks!!

Has anyone resolved this problem! I am typing a 7 hour deposition and having the exact same problem. I got around 4 1/2 hours and it is doing exactly the same thing.

Is there a way to split the file myself????

  5. This is the exact same problem I am experiencing.

When the typist has reached over 3 1/2 hours on a recording over 4 hours long, if they stop the recording to do something else or jot down a complex point, the recording starts from the beginning, or plays back something from a different recording (anecdotal). Don't know if it is a file size issue or a recording length issue.

Does anyone have access to a Vista PC or XP x64, to check if it happens on these systems also? Not that there is any way in hell we're upgrading...

Well, I didn't fix my problem. I did make sure the customer I have now stops and breaks up the files so last time she sent me 4 one hour recordings...that worked!

  6. I have been using Express Scribe for many months with no problems at all. I am trying to transcribe a meeting that is about 4 hours and 10 minutes long. I have typed about 3 1/2 hours with no problems at all. Suddenly, there is a point where during playback, if I stop so I can go back some, the sound is then very very garbled(for lack of a better word) -- Weird, but if I go back to a certain point and play, it is fine but once it gets into that one area it will play but cannot stop or have to go back again!

This is crazy. I have tried deleteing, starting over, everything I can think of -- using hot keys, using the mouse on the screen, nothing works...

Any suggestions? Could the file be too long?
