DIY Foot Pedal wiring for USB

Are there any directions for adapting a foot pedal from an old cassette transcriber to USB for use with Express Scribe? On this webpage: www.nch.com.au/scribe/pedalwiring.html, there is do-it-yourself instructions for adapting wiring to a serial port. But my computers (Macs) do not have a serial ports anymore--only USB, firewire, etc.

 

If anyone has do-it-yourself directions for adapting a foot pedal to USB, I would like to see them.

Here's a cheap alternative for a USB foot pedal. Set me back by PHP100 (around $2.50 US)
