SoundTap will not run at all

I have been using SoundTap for over 3 years now, and today I decided to upgrade to 1.40. I deleted the old version and installed 1.40, and the trial version worked perfectly. I then paid for the upgrade......and lo and behold, it does not work at all ! WILL NOT STREAM !

 

Also, other sound files on my computer are not working correctly (WIN Media Player), nor am I sure exactly what the settings on this new version should be, as I have found instructions which contradict each other.

 

*5. Ensure that the default device for Sound playback is set to SoundTap Recorder.

and the other says: "Ensure that the default device for Sound playback is set to the Sound card."

 

Which is right ? Is this a degraded copy that I've downloaded, or what am I doing wrong ? Should I just delete and reinstall ?

 

Am running XP Prof. - SP2 with AT&T Yahoo IE7.

All help will be appreciated.
