on recorded video the audio is fine but the video races a hundred mile per hour, why?

I purchased this software to record my screen while watching online dart tournaments from Britain. While watching it looks great but when I later playback the file it's a little choppy. I've tried different outputs i.e. avi, wmv, game, but it doesn't seem to make any difference. Any ideas how to correct this? Thanks in advance for any help offered
