Express Scribe (ES) 4.30 for Windows loads but can't play .flac files. When a loaded .flac file is selected and the play button pressed, at first nothing happens. After 30 seconds, the following modal error box appears: "File is not able to be played in Express Scribe. The audio file sample.flac has a duration equal to 0 seconds, it will now be deleted from Express Scribe." This bug occurs consistently with all tested .flac files, including NCH's own sample.flac. In one case, ES not only unloaded but actually deleted the .flac file! However, file deletion only happened once: I can't reproduce that behavior. NCH claims that ES supports .flac files. Indeed, Options > File Types offers a check box to associate .flac files with ES. So this problem appears to be a bug. OS: Windows Server 2003 sp2 32 bit
