Copper: Impressive minimal free POS application

Into my second day evaluating Copper and so far quite impressed with the cleanness with which it operates on an older Intel-based Mac running Mavericks OSX. I have not hooked up any hardware yet. Looking at pickup a Star Micronics TSP143EII thermal printer. Intended use will be for very very low volume transactions loads for DVD sales and hospitality fundraising events. Email setup using Yahoo! servers worked. Next purchase will probably be a handheld barcode reader and a cash drawer. Functionality is expandable to multiple sales people, network accessible for future growth. Hats off to NCH for making this POS application freely available.

Thanks!

Got said Star Micronics receipt printer above from Staples for $220. Followed the USB interface setup instructions and voila! Printed my first receipt! Need to do a little receipt text customization in Copper (or printer config) and that task will be basically complete. Fonts are a little big. No additional laptop hardware was needed. USB 2.0 cable was provided. The only other interface installed on this model is an RJ11 port for serial communication. Another models have ethernet, Wi-Fi and bluetooth options. Looking from the instructions, a bluetooth driver is not provided for OSX with this model.

Running into the same issue as others have here with receipts printing on 2 pages or on a single long slip with lots of white space. Fonts are too large. Text in the description field is wrapping down a long skinny column. Not sure if this got resolved in the latest version. Running v1.31.
